Just for High School StudentsYou are curious about the world around you; you have fairly good grades (especially in math and science); and you would like some help in making a career decision. You have come to the right place! The CfAO would like to help you explore careers in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math fields (STEM). CfAO offers the course Stars, Sight and Science through the California State Summer School for Mathematics and Science (COSMOS) program at UCSC. The Stars, Sight and Science is a four-week course designed and taught by CfAO scientists to teach you about adaptive optics and how it is used in astronomy and vision science. Along the way, you will be engaged in real research, learn about physics, astronomy, engineering and vision science through the lens of adaptive optics (AO). You will experience a different way of learning -- inquiry-based learning, not only challenges you, but it's the most fun you'll ever have while learning. View pictures and presentations from last summer. For more information please contact Malika Moutawakkil, 831-459-4688, malika@ucolick.org. | |||
