Melina Kari, Maui Community College
I am from Bulgaria where I got my Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on Controls. I came to the U.S. in 1998 and I lived in the Washington, D.C. area before coming to Maui. I worked for Lucent Technologies for three years as a Quality Assurance/System Test for one of the Lucent's telecommunications switches. My husband and I came to Maui in 2003 and I decided to take some courses at MCC to stay current in the technical field. I am interested in Electronics and would like to apply my technical skills and knowledge to work on environmentally sustainable technologies. My hobbies are hiking, biking, windsurfing and computer graphics. (Top) |

Jeremy Steel, Maui Community
College
I have been studying at Maui Community
College for the past two years. This past summer I had the opportunity
to participate in an internship program with the Center For Adaptive
Optics where I worked at an observatory documenting installations and
upgrades on the telescopes. During my internship I was able gain valuable
in-site on future carrier opportunities by talking with the many engineers
and technicians about past schooling and carriers. This greatly influenced
my decision to studying mechanical engineering. Currently, I am planing
on moving to San Luis Obispo California to study mechanical engineering
at California Polytechnic Institute. (Top) |
Jennifer Tom, Maui Community College
I am currently attending Maui Community College, taking classes to fulfil prerequisites to apply for the Master's in Information and Computer Science program at UH Manoa. I have a BS in Biochemistry from Washington State University and I am looking to enter the field of Bioinformatics. Specifically, I would like to design programs for researchers in the life sciences. My dream is to write programs for researchers in the life sciences to help solve complex problems, such as predicting protein folding/misfolding. I am mainly interested in modeling the protein folding problem. (Top) |
