Akamai Maui Short Course

May 25 - 30, 2008, Maui, Hawaii

As part of the preparation for the CfAO Maui Akamai undergraduate internship, interns will attend a 5-day "short course" held at Maui Community College, developed and taught by the team listed above. The short course is part of Maui Community College's Electronics 293v, 3 unit course. After the course the Akamai interns will then spend seven weeks working on projects with the following organizations: Akimeka, Institute for Astronomy, Maui High Performance Computing Center, Northrop Grumman, Oceanit, Trex, and Trextron. The short course includes the following topics:

• Optics
• Electronics
• Computer control
• Detectors
• Preparation for the industry environment
