Summer School on Adaptive Optics 2001
Agenda
DESCRIPTION:
The Summer School is an annual event sponsered by the Center for Adaptive Optics
(NSF Science and Technology Center). Its purpose is to disseminate knowledge
of adaptive optics to the scientific and technical community. The school is
held at the University of California, Santa Cruz, campus.
Our target audience includes
graduate students, postdocs, and researchers in astronomy and vision science.
We will assume that the participants are familiar with the basic concepts of
adaptive optics at the level of the CfAO Summer School 2000. The 2nd summer
school will cover more advanced topics such as:
- Image processing for
adaptive optics
- Mathematical tools for
adaptive optics
- Micro-machined deformable
mirrors (MEMS)
- Tomographic wavefront
sensing
- Simulations of AO systems
Anticipated
number of attendees: 60
As in the previous year,
emphasis will be given to topics that are of interest to astronomers and vision
scientists alike.
